Fashion design students to redesign University uniforms
Second year students from BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development were tasked with providing an innovative forward thinking design proposal for a new range of uniforms for University Estates staff.
University of the Arts London Estates teams have a highly visible presence and daily interaction with students, staff and visitors to the colleges, and as such uniforms play a vital role.
With the new university branding, the Estates Department were looking to create a strong and exciting identity across a new range of uniforms reflecting the University’s vision to be recognised as one of the world’s leading education providers.

Students taking part in the project spent some time job shadowing staff in order to learn how they use their uniform and how it can affect the range of tasks staff have to undertake. The brief asked students to think about innovation, functionality, ergonomics and aesthetics.
After a tense afternoon of informative student presentations, talented student Henrietta Adams was announced as the winner and her range will now be put into production. Runners up included Sian Lawrence and Laura Fisher.
