Teaism by Ji Cheng ready-to-wear collection
Drawing on the success of her inaugural London Fashion Week catwalk show last season, established Chinese designer Ji Cheng returns to Vauxhall Fashion Scout for spring/summer 2013. Ji Cheng reveals her newest ready-to-wear collection ‘Teaism’. Ji Cheng’s ability to blend Eastern inspirations with Western tailoring has brought her unrivalled success within the Asian market; and by bringing her line to London Ji Cheng’s aim is to now expose the popular aesthetic of contemporary China to a much wider international audience of press and buyers.  Drawing on the success of her inaugural London Fashion Week catwalk show last season, established Chinese designer Ji Cheng returns to Vauxhall# Turning to an unlikely yet somewhat apt source of inspiration for her newest collection, Ji Cheng looks to the theme of tea. Asymmetric cuts, peplum shapes and pocket paneling reflect the trends of the season, whilst voluminous ruffle skirts and backless dresses are timeless for the evening. Basics made from organic cotton and the finest silk are framed with pleats and tassels and topped off with handmade bamboo hats.   Drawing on the success of her inaugural London Fashion Week catwalk show last season, established Chinese designer Ji Cheng returns to Vauxhall# Donned by each model, their conical shape takes the collection straight back to the tea fields of China, where Ji Cheng’s inspiration began. Invented by Chinese emperors, the tradition of tea making dates back to ancient times. Passed down through generations, tea culture has travelled from the East to the West and today stands as one of the most consumed practices in the world.  Drawing on the success of her inaugural London Fashion Week catwalk show last season, established Chinese designer Ji Cheng returns to Vauxhall# “This season I look at an age old tradition, rooted in Chinese culture to draw similarities between the East and West. Tea is considered an art form in China and I hope that this beauty translates into my newest collection.” – Ji Cheng  Drawing on the success of her inaugural London Fashion Week catwalk show last season, established Chinese designer Ji Cheng returns to Vauxhall# Ji Cheng is one of Asia’s most renowned and longstanding beacons of design.
